Disruptions in utopia, land left behind

June October 2021

Falkenberg

On an old industrial plot the land was left toxic, and a narrow stream marks a social barrier in the city. Like wounds left in nature the land has been left behind while we march on planning for future utopias.

Design for change

The residency Disruptions in utopia, land left behind aims at an artistic activation of the sites Tegelbruket 6 and Gruebäcken in the city of Falkenberg.

By exploring design concepts and design methods rather than design objects, the residency highlights the relationship between design and the major issues of nature and our living environments. The big issues of our time. The residency wants to investigate human ties with complex systems in the world and suggest reparations through concepts and new systems.

How can inclusive, speculative, and / or critical design and landscape architecture help us to rethink and reshape land left behind?
