Lekkontoret
19 September - 3 December, 2023
As part of the residency The Public Design Office, the child culture design studio Lekkontoret together with a group of children created an open design studio at the Rian Design Museum where visitors, children and young people were invited to experiment and create new designs for our common public environments.
The child culture design studio Lekkontoret together with a group of young people from Falkenberg, transformed the Rian Design Museum’s project room into a play-driven, experimental and co-creative environment that culminated in activities during the autumn holidays.
What if we create the conditions for children and young people to contribute to shaping the public as competent and committed citizens and designers?
Lekkontoret responded to this question by developing practical tools that not only contributed to analyzing and reflecting on the design and use of public spaces but also proposed active change.
After a few initial working meetings in September, Lekkontoret opened the doors to a tool shed installed at the Rian Design Museum, which they filled with smart tools to both investigate and design public environments with. The exhibition was produced in collaboration with Rian Design Museum and was open throughout the fall.
Lekkontoret was invited to Falkenberg to participate in the residency The Public Design Office, which brought together artists, researchers and designers to think and experiment together with residents on how collaborative and speculative design can stimulate us to rethink the shaping and design of our shared living environments.
