Katja Tukiainen vs. Sigga Björg Sigurðardóttir

As part of Art Inside Out’s residency in Laholm 2016, the exhibition Katja Tukiainen vs. Sigga Björg Sigurðardóttir at the Museum of Drawnings. Through playful approaches, the artists mixed several unexpected motif combinations and techniques with each other.
Neither Sigurdardottir nor Tukiainen had heard of each other before they were informed that they would participate in the residency. In an interview in the newspaper Hallandsposten on November 30, 2016, Katja tells the reporter that “we found a wonderful common feeling right away”. In the same article, Sigga says that they both laughed constantly for three weeks in each other’s company.
During the residency, the audience was invited to take part in the artists’ work processes through talks with a focus on art, creation and literature at Laholm’s library and evening opening at Teckningsmuseet. Artists from Halland gathered here to participate in a drawing workshop with the visiting artists. Inspired by meetings with local practitioners, by each other and the environment in and around the museum, the exhibition at the Drawing Museum grew during the residency period.
