Memory of a Beautiful Future – Vision Images as a Tool in Participatory Community Planning.

Vision images are often used in urban planning projects to depict future places, but the gap between image and reality is large. What happens when the vivid future images become empty environments in practice? And how can vision images be developed through co-creative processes?

In the fall of 2024, artist Love Antell explored these questions in an artist residency arranged by Konst i Blekinge, in connection with the Karlshamn Municipality’s master plan. The result is Memory of a Beautiful Future – a virtual tour through Karlshamn based on vision images from urban planning projects.

The work combines AI-generated images, sculptural objects and site-specific AR experiences that explore how artistic methods can contribute to new perspectives on designed living environments and community planning.

The talks are arranged by the program group with representatives from Region Blekinge (Torun Ekstrand), Region Gävleborg (Erik Anderman), Region Värmland (Hannes Trygg) and Region Halland (Davor Abazovic).
