In The Wake Of The Waves

14 juni – 24 augusti 2025

Art Inside Out is visiting the World Heritage Grimeton Radio Station with the exhibition In the Wake of the Waves with newly produced works of artists Einat Amir, Eric Magassa and Emanuel Cederquist that you can experience in and around the radiostation: through video, text, sound, collage, installation and photography.

A hundred years ago, Grimeton Radio Station sent Sweden’s first wireless signal across the Atlantic. It marked the beginning of a new era. Today, we live constantly connected and, in a time, where movement and displacement are a natural part of our everyday lives and the larger geopolitical landscape. But what happens when language and identities are transferred from one context to another? What emerges and what is lost when border lines are crossed? Here, transformations and shifts occur that in their winding ramifications open up new experiences and relationships.

During the spring, at the invitation of Art Inside Out, the artists have taken these questions and Grimeton’s various historical layers as their starting point and created new site-specific artworks. Together, they form an exhibition that, like a tidal wave, follows an untamed movement that contains philosophical, political and existential reflections.

You can experience the art works in different parts on the radio station grounds – Eric Magassa’s installation is in the large Transmitter Hall in the main building and Einat Amir’s video is presented in the bunker built during World War II that is located below the antenna masts. In the gallery The Room of the World you can see Emanuel Cederqvist’s photo series (that open on July 2).

Throughout the exhibition period, Varberg-based artist Ana Carolina Flemming invites visitors and guests to the World Heritage Grimeton Radio Station to create a collective and large-scale artwork with her that mixes painting and sculptural, on a wooden board outside in the field. This art piece emerges slowly during the summer and will be completed in early August.
