Tidal Tongues
24/08/2025 14:00 – 17:00 Getterön, Varberg
Tidal Tongues is a performance and workshop that will take place at the island Getterön in Varberg. Collective outdoor cooking with seaweed will be part of the performance. The aim is to re-imagine stories of ecological interconnectedness and to cultivate conversations about seaweed and its role in the wider marine ecology.
The performance is created by Maj Horn (DK) & Sarah Blissett (UK). Horn is a visual artist with a research-based practice exploring new approaches and narratives about landscapes and environments. She participated in the AIO residence Between the Rains in 2022 and is currently included in the exhibition Seaweed Stories at Varbergs Konsthall. Blissett is an artist, writer and a dramaturg. Her research explores human-non-human entanglements in performance with a focus on algae ecosystems and intertidal ecology.
The performative workshop is aimed at adults, but all ages are welcome. It is for everyone, whether you know much about seaweed or not.
Language: English
The program is presented in collaboration with Varbergs Konsthall and is part of Water reflections, which brings together Halland’s art institutions around the common theme of water.
