Opening: The Listener

Art Inside Out is visiting the Museum of Drawing with the exhibition Listeners. Here, new works by Christine Ödlund and Pia Rönicke are presented in collaboration with Johan Tirén. The artists have participated in Art Inside Out’s artistic residency and created works in relation to Laholm and the specific natural environments of the Lagan River.

Ongoing climate change, threatened biodiversity and our need for global transformation require new methods for understanding the ecological contexts in which we are part. The artists we have invited to Laholm enter into dialogue with nature: waterways, plants, mosses and ecosystems, and form a bridge between non-human communication and our own existential search.

During the opening, a conversation will be held with the artists and the artist duo Lerin/Hystad will perform a musical performance. Lerin/Hystad work together in a borderland between visual art and experimental music. The duo records electrical data from plants which is converted into sound through sonification, where the plants themselves determine the tones, melodies and rhythms of the music.
