The Coolest Fish in the River

Welcome to a Christmas holiday workshop inspired by the exhibition ”The Listener” at Teckningsmuseet.

Once a year, just after Christmas, the coolest fish in Lagan wake up from their slumber. During a magical week, they gather to enjoy the coldest and coziest days and nights of the year.

In this imaginative workshop, children get to listen to the magical sounds of the river and paint the most wonderful, whimsical and coolest fish on large sheets of paper.

Each child gets to draw a small note from a bowl, each note has a short description of a fish’s personality and then uses the text as inspiration to create their own unique river fish.

Artist: Ronak Rabiee

Bio: Ronak Rabiee is a writer and textile artist living in Laholm. Born in a Kurdish city in Iran, she has spent most of her adult life working and creating with children. Before moving to Sweden, she worked in Iran as a children’s art teacher, painter, librarian and author of children’s and young adult books. She has written and published more than 36 picture books for children, and her heart still beats for creating, discovering and sharing art with them. Ronak has also recently been named the 2025 recipient of the Kirke Ralph Scholarship.
