Kerstin Bergendal
Kerstin Bergendal’s artistic practise is based on a specific artistic method; a mixture of long presence, new forms of dialogue and consultation and the ad-hoc logic of games. Bergendal’s artistic method focuses on how we think about and use our public or semi-public spaces – what Kerstin Bergendal calls our “common spaces”. By inviting us to map this particular type of space, she initiate dialogues that highlight, discuss and renegotiate the underlying idea on which these spaces rest; the idea that we can share ownership.
Kerstin Bergendal is a Swedish artist who has lived in Denmark for thirty years. She is a lecturer at HDK-Valand in Gothenburg. Bergendal has many years of experience in urban development processes in Denmark and Sweden with, among others, the Norwegian Arts Council as a client.
