Jesper Thour works with painting that move out into the room like a fable-like scenography. In teeming scenes, associative stories are created where predators, other creatures and human figures navigate through hierarchies, social codes or exclusion. The works are playful and reminiscent of children’s drawings, and they are characterized by substantial darkness. In his work Thour wishes to create space for the audience to act with the art, place themselves together with it or walk around the paintings and interact with them rather than just observe from the outside.
Jesper Thour has a Master’s degree from Konstfack University of Arts, Craft and Design. He lives and works in Stockholm and Småland. He is represented at Galleri Hedenius since 2023.
In the residency, Thour will work in the nature surroundings of the Tjolöholm Castle and let it form a stage or backdrop for his works.
