Large-scale temporary experiments in urban space
How can temporary interventions change how we use and experience a place?
The site-specific light installation “Winter Colour Bath” on Krämartorget in central Örebro emerged in connection with a temporary ice rink and quickly transformed the square’s social dynamics. Through projected color fields and interactive movements, a shared space was created where meetings, play and new behaviors could arise during the coldest months of the year.
Anna Maria Hellner from ÖrebroBostäder talks about the project, which was developed in dialogue with architect Luka Murovec. The webinar highlights how situational experiments and spatial design can function as practical methods for testing possibilities in the already built city by asking questions rather than delivering ready-made plans — and how temporary interventions can contribute knowledge to future urban development.
The talks are arranged by the program group with representatives from Region Blekinge (Torun Ekstrand), Region Gävleborg (Erik Anderman), Region Värmland (Hannes Trygg) and Region Halland (Davor Abazovic).
