Transmission as resistance

Welcome to an evening where art, film, poetry and conversation meet!

With musician and poet Joshua Idehen and artists Einat Amir and Lusine Djanyan.

Listening is the first seed of resistance. In the new issue of Art Inside Out’s publication “AIO Journal #20 – In the wake of the Waves” with guest editor Ulrika Flink, transmission is at the center – as technology, metaphor and political action. The texts in the journal are based on artworks created during an artistic residency with Einat Amir, Eric Magassa and Emanuel Cederqvist at Grimeton Radio station in Varberg, a place where signals once traveled across the Atlantic and where communication has always been intertwined with power, war and resistance. The journal issue moves between places, times and voices that have used language, signals and transmissions as tools for resistance, community and memory.

During the evening, art, film, poetry and conversation about voices in motion come together: through time, space and exile. Participating are Joshua Idehen, musician and poet, Einat Amir, artist and Lusine Djanyan, artist and activist in Pussy Riot, who together investigate what happens when messages find their way through censored and limiting systems – and when the broadcast becomes an expression of resistance and life. As part of the program, the photographic series “Platsens brus” by Emanuel Cederqvist is also presented. The conversation is moderated by Ulrika Flink, Konstfrämjandet Stockholm, Stina Edblom, artistic director & Davor Abazovic, producer at Art Inside Out.
