Inauguration of new sculpture: The Whirlwind

We are inaugurating Knäred’s new sculpture with live music, an open fire with sausage grilling and hot chocolate!

During the spring, artists Anja and Tomas Örn, who live in Luleå, have spent time in Knäred at the invitation of Art Inside Out. Against the background of the planned culverting of Lagan, they have worked together with researchers at Luleå University of Technology to study the movements of the water through the turbines of the lower power plant. When the water passes the power plant, vortices arise that propagate, and based on these movements they have created the sculpture Vortex. The sculpture can be seen as an element of the body memory of the water and is installed outside on the small island below the lower power plant in Knäred.

We will gather near the sculpture at 1 pm on Sunday, September 21, on the small headland near Dyreborgsvägen 17.

Stina Edblom, artistic director of Art Inside Out, will welcome you and Gudrun Persson, chairwoman of Laholm’s cultural committee and Inga-Lill Cederberg, chairwoman of the Knäred Community Association, will inaugurate the artwork. Artist Tomas Örn will talk about working on the sculpture and his interest in hydropower and its impact on the ecosystems of rivers and streams.

Then we walk together up to Knäred Upper Wind Shelter for a barbecue and nice company by the fire. Dress for the weather and we will serve the food around the barbecue! Bring your friends and family for a cozy outing in nature – everyone is welcome!
