Fredrik Åkum

The artist Fredrik Åkum has, at the invitation of Emanuel Cederqvist, interpreted and reinterpreted Cederqvist’s visual material and created an art fanzine that will be launched during the opening of the exhibition “In the Wakes of the Waves”.

Fredrik Åkum works exploratively based on painting. The paintings often form the basis for future works, which do not necessarily have to have their final stage in painting, but can result in sculptures, installations or artists’ books. In addition to exhibiting in galleries, art halls and museums, he has always seen the publication format as an equally important space. He therefore started the publishing house Sunless Press, where he explores the flip-through format as an exhibition space, and allows the publications to become works in themselves. At Sunless Press, Fredrik Åkum is both publisher, curator, graphic designer, and in the majority of the editions also printer. The process is carried out in close relationship with the artists he works with.
