Seminar: Art and cultural heritage
Art and cultural heritage.
On December 4, a seminar was held at the Gotlands Museum in Visby, about how collaborations between art- and cultural heritage institutions can actualize and make cultural heritage available to the wider public.
The seminar was based on the Baltic Art Center (BAC) and Gotlands Museum’s artistic research residency, which has been ongoing since 2017 with the support of the Cultural Council’s regional development grant and which has now ended.
To broaden the perspective, Art Inside Out was also invited to present parts of its work with contemporary art and cultural heritage in, among other places, Äskhult’s village, Tjolöholm’s castle and (future) Grimeton radio station, but also other cultural environments all over Halland such as the Sawmill plot in Rydöbruk and (ex.) The brick factory in Falkenberg, to name a few.
The day ended with a joint reflection on future encounters between contemporary art and cultural heritage, where the issues of contaminated sites as cultural heritage and the uncomfortable cultural heritage were particularly highlighted.
