Many cultural institutions and the majority of artists and designers are based in cities. How does this affect the problems and solutions that design solves? Whose needs are provided for? What are then the consequences?
Design for everyone
The residency Make Dreams–Shape Places welcome designers to investigate how design can inspire, challenge and ask questions in its’ encounter with the public sphere and the citizens in that space. How can inclusive design be a part of helping to shape living cities and sustainable futures in practice?
The design residency took place in Falkenberg and Slöinge in Halland. Together with architect Simon Poulsgaard, designers Sofia Østerhus and Hanna Nilsson from Byggstudio explored the possibilities for a new park in the centre of Falkenberg. Meanwhile, in collaboration child culture designer Emma Andersson and designer Samir Alj Fält teamed up with children at Slöinge’s school in Falkenberg’s municipality.
